Privacy notice
What we hold, why we hold it and how to make us stop.
The Curious Mindset runs on trust, and that starts with being plain about what happens to the details you give us. This is the whole of it, in ordinary language. It was last updated on 8 September 2026.
Who we are
The Curious Mindset is run by The Curious Mindset Powered by 64TEQ Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales under number 16069061, with its registered office at 8 Winmarleigh Street, Warrington, Cheshire WA1 1JW. We are the data controller for everything described here. If you want to ask us anything about your details, write to bandish@thecuriousmindset.co.uk and a person will reply.
What we collect, and when
When you request an invitation. Your name, work email, role and organisation, your LinkedIn profile if you give it, the statements you say are true for you, the session you'd like to start with, how often you can realistically attend, how you found us and, if a member invited you, their name. The private box on the first step of the door is exactly that. Whatever you type there stays on your screen and is never sent to us or to anyone else.
When a member puts you forward. Your name, role, organisation, an email address or LinkedIn profile, a line about why they think you belong in the room, whether they've mentioned it to you and the member's own name and email so we can make the introduction in their name. If you'd rather we didn't hold any of that, tell us and we'll delete it.
When you're a member. Which sessions, dinners and events you attend, the postal address you give us so we can send you the guest's book and anything you choose to share with the team. The guest's part of a session is recorded, and short clips from it are used to promote the community. The Q&A is never recorded for publication or shared outside the room, and we don't keep notes on what individual members say.
When you offer to be a guest. Your name, email, what you've written or done, a link and the line you give us about why. Bryony, who produces the room, reads it and replies. If it isn't a fit we delete it within 12 months.
When you visit this website. This site sets no cookies of its own and runs no analytics or advertising trackers. Two things load from elsewhere: our typefaces come from Google Fonts, and the short film in the corner plays from YouTube's privacy-enhanced player only when you press play. At those moments Google sees your IP address, as it would on any site using those services.
Why we use it
To read your request and decide whether we can offer you a seat, which is a decision made by a person, not a system. To write back to you and, if it's a fit, to hold your seat, send the invitation and post you the book. To run the community: telling members who's coming, where the dinners are and when the next door opens. To keep the room what it is, which means checking that the people in it lead technology and aren't there to sell. In legal terms we rely on our legitimate interest in running a community of this kind and, once you're a member, on the arrangement between us. We'll only ever email you about The Curious Mindset itself. There is no sales list, and being in the room never puts you on one.
Who sees it
The small team who run The Curious Mindset, and the services we use to run it: the platform that hosts our live sessions, the tools that store requests and send our emails and the courier who delivers the books. Each of them handles your details only on our instructions. Other members will know your first name, role and organisation when you're in a session together, because that's what a room is. We don't sell your details and we don't share them with sponsors, vendors, recruiters or anyone else for their own marketing. We would only hand them over if the law required it.
How long we keep it
If we can't offer you a seat, we keep your request for 12 months in case a place opens in a later season, then delete it. If you're a member, we keep your details for as long as you're part of the room and for 12 months after you leave, so we can reach you if you'd like to come back. Anything we're required by law to keep, such as records of what we've sent you, we keep for as long as that law says.
Your rights
You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, ask us to stop using it or ask for a copy to take elsewhere. Any of those is one email to bandish@thecuriousmindset.co.uk, and we'll answer within a month. If you think we've got something wrong and we haven't put it right, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. Our registration number with the ICO is ZC110321.
Changes
If we change how we use your details, we'll update this page and, if the change matters, tell members directly. The date at the top always shows when it was last touched.
